Where should you hold your emergency fund to get the best interest rate? There are a lot of good options but Fidelity is very convenient since as a client you are already using Fidelity for your investment accounts. Here’s a link to Fidelity’s money market funds information.
Rates as of 3/7/2023 are currently 4.23%!
Benefits of saving 15% for retirement
To help you reach your long-term retirement goals, we recommend setting aside 15% towards your Retirement. If you are not already setting aside 15% and would like to do so, please reach out to the administrator of your employer 401k, or your Financial Advisor at Goodwin Investment Advisory.

Real Estate update
by Tim Goodwin
It’s all about perspective! Looking back 1 – 15 years on mortgage rates would make you feel like current rates are high. However, those of us who got mortgages before 2009, remember all too well that these kind of rates were very normal. Actually, the further you go back in history, the higher the mortgage rates were. I was born in 1981 when rates peaked at over 18%! Can you imagine paying 18% on a 30-year mortgage? No thank you. So, don’t be too hard on yourself if you buy a house or invest in real estate in these current conditions – many of us survived and thrived on much higher rates in the past.
According to the US National Home Price Index, the average home price has declined about 4.5% since June 2022. That’s not the case all over the US. I know of a home in Blue Ridge, GA that sold on Friday for 2.5% less than the asking price with the buyer paying all closing costs. A buddy of mine, who sells real estate in Ohio, continues to receive offers over asking for his listings. If you are a real estate investor or want to be one, sitting on the sidelines might not be a bad idea, however, if a good deal comes your way, give it a nice hard look – it could still turn out to be a good long-term investment. And, if you need a second pair of eyes, never hesitate to reach out to Team GIA. We love discussing real estate investing with our clients!
blog update
We currently send out a blog every other Tuesday. Our recent blog titled, “Social Security: Will it be there when I retire?” addresses some of the big questions you may have concerning Social Security, including our thoughts on whether it will be available for you in the future. Another recent blog we wrote was about 20 money conversations you can have to improve your finances, which we have now turned into a printable pdf for your convenience. Click the button below to download it.
If you have any topics you would like us to cover or discuss in the Insider or in a blog, please reach out to Tara Bruce at tbruce@goodwininvestment.com.
